BIOGRAPHY AND BACKGROUND

Alexandre Cecchi was born in Belgium on September 18th, 1987 to a family of Italian-Dutch origins. He currently resides in Québec, Canada.

After secondary school, Alexandre left his home country to enroll in the European Institute for the Training of Journeymen of the Tour du France (IEF-CTF) and to study traditional cabinetmaking. For two years, he alternated between theoretical lessons in Juras and practical training in the Parisian workshop Weinzierl, under the supervision of journeyman Franck Janick.

After obtaining his diploma, he began his own “Tour de France” within the Federation Compagnonnique des Métiers du Bâtiment (FCMB). As tradition requires in the companionship, Alexandre traveled across France to learn, from experienced masters, the various attractions and techniques related to the craft of French cabinetmaking.

In 2013, he completed his Tour de France in the prestigious Maison Dissidi in Faubourg Saint-Antoine, Paris. For the following four years, he worked as foreman in this workshop known worldwide for its replicas of furniture of the great French masters of the 18th century.
During the summer of 2017, he immigrated to Quebec to join the wood workshop, “Ébéniste d’art”. Shortly after his arrival, he became a shareholder of this family business created ten years earlier by Dominique Repetti and Odile Richer-Repetti.

In the spring 2018, Alexandre began to create, under his own name, his vision of art through various creations. The latter combine French design and traditions with a personal and innovative interpretation of the aesthetics of modern cabinetmaking.

Every great work of art is the fruit of deep humility
